Adriana Michima creates darker surreal imagery. By including natural elements such as smoke, fire, or stars she evokes a sense of darkness and mystery. This mysterious nature is also seen in the often obscured faces of her figurative studies. Often the result of dealing with personal internal struggles. Michima has a background in traditional art, illustration and painting, and often creates the props and does the makeup when working on her photographs. Some of which are self-portraits.
